Welcome to Harmony Harbor Hot Topics with Kitty!
Happy Holidays to you and yours from all of us here at Greystone Manor! I hope one year you’ll join us for the holidays. Our motto at the manor is to make Christmas dreams come true. And I must say my granddaughters-in-law have gone all out this year, as much out of necessity as a love for the holidays, I’m afraid. I don’t want to give away any spoilers from next June’s book, BAREFOOT BEACH, but the manor needs to make bank as the younger generation would say.
But, as I’ve told them, this is the season of giving. So in an effort to give back to the town for their overwhelming support this year, we’ve opened our doors wide, and not just for the party after the parade.
Julia has set up a writing station to help the children write their letters to Santa and, with her husband Logan’s help, they host bedtime stories. Tonight, they’re reading THE CHRISTMAS BOX by Richard Paul Evans to the older children. And Olivia has turned the bridal suite into Santa’s suite. Tours are offered daily and my married grandchildren take turns playing Santa with their wives playing Mrs. Claus. At first the boys grumbled about the idea, but their wives quickly won them over. We’ve also been offering craft and cookie workshops on the weekend. This Saturday, we’re making ice luminaires and the DiRossis will be joining us to make Italian cookies.
As you can see, Christmas is a busy time at the manor, so trust me when I tell you my solution for a stress-less holiday season works every time. All you have to remember is that your family and friends won’t care if dinner is late or a tad overcooked or if you forgot to make this cookie or that side dish or the house doesn’t pass a white-glove inspection or you forgot to buy your distant relative a gift (keep a couple extra gift cards on hand just in case). In fact, they probably won’t even notice because all they care about is spending time together. And speaking of time together, Jasper and I are going to sneak out for a sleigh ride, so I’ll say goodbye until next year!
“In this New Year, may your right hand always be stretched in friendship and never in need.” xox
